Jh. wurde \u00fcber einem r\u00f6mischen Vorg\u00e4ngerbau errichtet, wahrscheinlich einem Apollo-Tempel. Ein hier gefundener Apollo-Kopf befindet sich in den vatikanischen Sammlungen. Der heutige Bau, eine Basilika \u00fcber kreuzf\u00f6rmigem Grundriss, entstand fast vollst\u00e4ndig ab 1190 nach einem Brand.
